Ethics Guidelines

Article 1 (Purpose)

This regulation stipulates the research ethics principles and standards that members applying for paper submission to academic journals published by the Asia-Pacific Association of Economics and Management (hereinafter referred to as the "Society") must comply with. The purpose is to stipulate procedures for handling research ethics issues that may arise during the paper writing process.

Article 2 (Applicable object)

Applies to the journal of this society, papers submitted to academic conferences, and all research-related projects hosted by the society.

Article 3 (Confirmation of Compliance with Research Ethics)

In order to confirm that they have complied with these regulations, members applying for paper submission must specify in the submission application the content 'I and others have complied with the research ethics regulations of the Asia-Pacific Association of Economics and Management.'

Article 4 (Research Ethics Misconduct)

Research ethics misconduct (hereinafter referred to as'misconduct ') refers to forgery, tampering, and plagiarism committed during the entire research process (research proposal, research performance, reporting and presentation of research results, etc.). Referring to duplicate publication, improper attribution of the author of the paper and the accompanying improper acts, etc., are as follows.

1. Fabrication and Fraud: Falsification, invention, or manipulation of qualifications, data, sources, results, or citations directly or indirectly used in research.

2.Tampering :refers to the act of distorting research contents or results by artificially manipulating research materials, equipment, processes, etc. or arbitrarily modifying and deleting data.

3.Plagiarism: refers to the act of stealing other people's ideas, research contents, results, etc. without proper approval or citation.

4.Duplicate Submission and Self plagiarism: Submission of manuscripts describing research results or elements that are essentially the same as those described in another journal or primary publication.

5.Authorship Disputes: Providing false information about a researcher’s affiliation or academic position, granting authorship to individuals who did not contribute to the content or results of the research, or the failure to grant authorship of a manuscript to individuals who contributed to the content or results of the research, or who made relevant contributions, without justifiable reason.

6. Inappropriate conduct: means an act that intentionally interferes with the investigation of one's or another's suspicions of misconduct or harms the whistleblower, an act that suggests, forces, or threatens others to commit the above-mentioned misconduct, and other acts that seriously deviate from the scope normally tolerated in the academic community.

7.Other Violations: Any other reports of misconduct judged by the Research Ethics Committee of Asia-Pacific Association of Economics and Management as noticeable misconduct.

Article 5 (Composition of Research Ethics Committee)

A Research Ethics Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Committee) shall be established to deliberate the contents stipulated in these regulations. The committee consists of six members elected by the board of directors, and the chairman is the president of this society, and the term of office is two years.

Article 6 (Committee Work)

The Committee deliberates and resolves on the following matters.

1.Investigation, deliberation and decision on compliance with research ethics regulations regarding papers submitted to journal and papers presented at academic conferences.

2.Matters related to disciplinary action against members who violate research ethics regulations.

3.Matters related to the establishment and operation of research ethics and truthfulness-related systems.

4.Matters related to reporting and receiving fraud.

5.Matters related to the composition and work performance of the committees of the preliminary investigation and the main investigation.

6.Approval of findings.

7.Matters related to the protection of whistleblowers and measures to restore the honor of suspects.

8.Matters related to the processing and follow-up of research authenticity verification results.

9. Other matters related to research ethics recommended by the chairman.

Article 7 (Research Ethics Activities)

1.The editorial board, including the chairman of the editorial board, continuously conducts research ethics activities.

2.If it is confirmed that the research ethics regulations of our society have been violated after the publication of the paper is confirmed or published, the editorial committee will be held to request the relevant institution to cancel the publication, and all relevant researchers will be notified in accordance with the research ethics regulations.

Article 8 (Review Procedure)

If there is a report of misconduct regarding research ethics or if the Committee requires investigation or verification, the Committee shall immediately confirm whether it is true, and members under investigation regarding violations of research ethics shall actively cooperate with the investigation conducted by the Committee.

Article 9 (Opportunity for disclosure and guarantee of confidentiality)

1.Members under investigation for violations of research ethics regulations should be given ample opportunity to explain themselves.

2. Until the verification of fraud is completed, care should be taken to ensure that the reputation or rights of the respondent are not infringed, and efforts should be made to restore the reputation of the respondent who is found to be unrelated to fraud.

Article 10 (Measures against violating members)

If the committee is determined to be fraudulent as a result of its deliberation, the committee will immediately notify the board of directors and the editorial committee of the committee's investigation and deliberation results, and the main author of the paper will not be able to submit a paper to this society for the next three years. In addition, the violation of research ethics will be announced on the website of the Asia-Pacific Association of Economics and Management

Article 11 (Amendment)

Matters related to the amendment and abolition of these Regulations shall be subject to a resolution of the Board of Directors.

This regulation was enacted on April 1, 2024, and will be revised and implemented on July 19, 2024.
